Why I Didn't Go To School Across The Street

Comments

The day you came to live with me, you and your mom arrived at the door with no warning and she said "You want him...You Take Him". Niether of us got a decent explanation as to why. To this day I'm not sure what was going on with her.

Cindy and I were still on good terms at that time even though we were separated and she had moved in with David. As I recall Vinehill Elementary was the logical choice for you to go. After school you would walk to Cindy and David's and be with your sister until I could pick you up from work. Even though you were good at riding the bus, I didn't want you coming home to an empty house.

It's possible my mother had some explanation for this, but it was a long time ago and because it wasn't exactly my idea. I'm sure that reason got lost in the trauma. These days, I don't talk to mom, so it's not as if I am going to call her up and ask her about it.

I have a different memory about the "after school" arrangements, which will be the subject of a different blog entry.
