What board game are you really good at? Really bad at?
Monopoly is probably my favorite board game. I had a lot of practice playing it growing up. My mom was really good at it. I had to bone up on the game to get to the point where I could beat her and others.
I've trained Jaden to play it, and he can occasionally beat me. He's still got a ways to go. He's only 7. Because of the amount of time it takes, we don't play it as often as I'd like. Once Gracie gets a bit older, I could see it becoming a game for "family night" or something.
What time is your alarm clock set for? Do you use the snooze button?
No alarm clock needed in the mornings. One or both children are usually awake by 7am. We've got Jaden trained not to wake us up before 7am on school mornings, 8am on the weekends. Hm... I wonder how that will work during summer break, which starts on Thursday? Guess it depends on how planned out mommy has his schedule.
What websites do you visit every day?
Submitted by Chez Michelle.
I don't visit websites very often. I start and end my day in Google Reader, where I am able to keep up with the sites I am interested in without specifically having to visit them unless there is something I want to specifically look at.
What's your best tax tip?
Hire an accountant. ;)
What were you doing one year ago today?
Submitted by CassandraMorgan.
In California at the office, talking to management and trying to figure out what it was they were paying me to do, exactly, given how different my job was from everyone else in the group. I remember being told flat out "things are a little uncertain right now, hang in there." Which of course, I did, and (ultimately) managed to take the vague direction I was given and did something productive. My yearly review clearly bore that out.
I've worked at the same place for eight years in basically the same group. I started out primarily supporting products, then into managing knowledge, process, and procedures related to our knowledge base, then back to supporting products for a while, and now I've come back to basically managing knowledge in addition to newer products. I have some say in the process and procedures, but a lot of that structure is already in place and I'm mostly just tweaking it.
One thing I have a clearer understanding on that I didn't last year is that I am, in many ways, leading the group. Not in so much as I am a "manager," but rather I am leading by example. That can be both a good and bad position to be in, but so far it has had a lot more upside than down.
How do you handle phone calls from telemarketers?
I don't get them. Most of the calls I take come in on my mobile phone. It's illegal to telemarket to someone's mobile phone in the US. If one does come thru on, say, a landline, I simply hang up or if I am feeling particularly pissy, I will ask to be placed on their do-not-call list.
If a telemarketer calls my Grand Central number, which I give out pretty freely, they must get through the call screener first. If they do, they can forever be routed into the bit bucket, complete with an "out of service" message.
What's your musical horoscope? (Put your player on shuffle and write down the first 10 songs that come up.)

- Smuggler's Blues by Glenn Frey
- She's A Woman by The Beatles
- A Great Day For Freedom by Pink Floyd
- Because by The Beatles
- Any Kind of Pain by Frank Zappa
- Once Upon a Time In The West by Dire Straits
- Don't Go To Pieces by The Cars
- School by Supertramp
What family member do you most aspire to be like? Why?
Submitted by MalieKai.
I don't aspire to be like anyone in my family. I am who I am despite my genes. But I suppose if I were to pick someone, I'd pick my Grandma Hattie. She had seemingly infinite patience and infinite love to give.
It still saddens me when I think about what had happened to who she was after that incident with Uncle Andy. My own personal version of "the long goodbye," if you will.
Who was your first celebrity crush?
Submitted by Glory.
While I remember my grandmother telling me that I always smiled when I saw a pretty girl on the TV, probably the ones that stuck with me the most were the models on The Price is Right, otherwise known as Barker's Beauties. Whether or not that was the reason I still like game shows to this day, well that's a different question.
Meanwhile, the three I remember as being "the original ones I saw" were:
Not sure if they are "celebrities" in the sense everyone else is thinking about, but hey.
What do you do to ensure you get a good night's sleep?
Submitted by Jacob's Ladder.
Make sure I'm good and tired before I go to bed. When I'm ready to go to bed, I fall asleep within five minutes.
Of course, the problem is that I'm rarely tired at an early time, so I often don't get quite enough sleep.
